This episode of the Mediabrief Podcast The Master’s Voice features Vibha Chopra, Head – Global Syndication & International Film Distribution, ZEE Studios Ltd (from ZEEL), who joined the company as a newbie 13 years ago, armed with just three things — her experiences of having lived amongst Indians across the world, an international MBA, and her gut. And since then, she has rewritten the rule book on global syndication and international film distribution for Indian professionals.
Vibha is in conversation with Pavan R Chawla, about her work achievements, and how she went about scripting the ZSL success story in international markets.
It’s a bit long for sure, but we wanted to keep it so for even younger professionals, so they learn from Vibha about how to fearlessly take up work challenges to which experience-wise they may be total newbies. Also, so they learn, that strategy, practical wisdom and confidence and belief, when used together in the right measures, will endorse the confidence and wisdom of senior entrepreneurs and professionals who might select an inexperienced young colleague for a crucial mandate.

An economics graduate with Masters in Business Administration from University of KwaZulu – Natal, South Africa, Vibha Chopra had absolutely no experience of film distribution or global syndication when she joined ZEE Studios whose parent Zee is one of the
world’s largest content producers with a presence in over 172 countries and a global reach
of over 1.3 billion people.
Ever since her early days, Vibha has been working for ZEEL in various capacities across
geographies. Her experience is not only multi-national but also multi-functional — in areas
such as Marketing, Branding, Digital, Research, Strategy and Live Events. She has lived,
studied and worked across different countries such as Japan, Moscow, Cyprus, South Africa, the USA and Canada, which gave her exposure to various cultures and people, both
professionally and personally.
Today, Vibha has successfully build ZEE Studios into one of the most aggressive Movie Studios in the domain of distributing Indian films in global markets. The Studio has become a frontrunner with films across different Indian languages like Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telegu, Malayalam and Punjabi. Over and above the conventional markets, Vibha has been successful in taking Indian films like Hindi Medium, Secret Superstar, MOM and Beyond the Clouds to markets like China and has also successfully opened new territories like those of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Netherlands, Russia and Poland amongst others.
