Star, Mirror NOW, others celebrate #Section377Verdict Star Gold video celebrating love stands out

As soon as the landmark judgment of the abolishment of section 377 came in, brands went all out to celebrate it. Most actually went out and put their money where their mouths were; a few quickly clambered aboard the free cross-promotion bandwagon passing by.

Amongst the memorable celebrations that did not ‘unnaturally’ shove their brands into the celebrations were Star   and Mirror NOW.

Star Gold came up with a brilliant video. Here it is. A simply styled, very classily shot, smartly, impactfully written video, a tribute to love. It was trending too, on Twitter. Good stuff resonates, doesn’t it?

Mirror NOW, as a mark of solidarity, announced a new day-long special, with the legend Pride Now firmly in place, and fronted by its never-flailing-her-arms-never-shouting, well-spoken and effective crusader-Editor, Faye D Souza. Her show The Urban Debate featured parents of prominent personalities from the community. Sridhar Rangayan, Director & producer, Harish Iyer, LGBTQ Rights Activist, Onir, film maker, Sushant Divgikar and many more were part of the special programming line-up on the channel throughout the day. Of course, as a news channel, the lineup was grist to its content mill, but having seen and followed Faye’s and the channel’s steadfast support of the LGBTQ , it rang sincere. That it was great content for the news channel was secondary, in my opinion.

Also, Faye D’Souza’s tweet shone with the sincerity she’s always supported the LGBTQ Community. Here is is:

Star Plus did the subtle, restrained thing by dressing its striking logo in the colours of the day.

Some other memorable celebrations on Social media are shared below in random order.

Singer Shreya Ghoshal kept it sweet and simple.

Durex India put out a beautifully designed message. Of course, all things considered, its product just had to shine bang in the middle.

ALT Balaji

The ALT Balaji video, in true ALT-B fashion, clambered upon the bandwagon in a more direct fashion on both, the creative content, and the cross promotion in the end.

Good stuff.

Section 377 gone. Now for something in the 300s – Article 370?
