OPPO, sold as the innovative selfie expert, launched its latest mid-range camera smartphone, the OPPO A3s, for sale on Sunday, the 15th of July 2018 in India. The A3s is the first A series mid-range device and the first OPPO device in the South Asian market with a 13+2 MP dual rear camera along with an 8-MP AI-enabled front camera and a 6.2-inch HD+ display which it calls the ‘super Full screen’, and is an interesting, value-delivering smartphone in an affordable range.
There’s a 4230 mAH battery powering the phone that comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage expandable to 256 GB via microSD, includes face unlock, and comes with FM Radio and the interesting ‘Music Party’ feature, all powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 Octa-core processor, and also offering OPPO’s A.I. Beauty Technology.
The A3s is priced at Rs 10990, and is available for sale on online portals Flipkart, Amazon and PayTM along with the offline stores.
If the youngsters this phone is targeted at don’t mind a RAM of 2GB, then the A3s does measure up as a high-end looking phone at an affordable price; its 6.2″ super full notch screen and the 88.8% high-ratio screen give it a high-end look and feel. However IT has a lower 1520 x 720 pixel resolution that its A series predecessor. A company release says to improve the screen ratio, flux dispensing technology has been upgraded to further narrow down the border by 16% to 2.05mm thin. The screen helps utilize the space for notifications such as battery statistics, date and other app notifications. Pictures, videos or game-playing do get the benefit of an excellent wide visual experience.
At present, full screen is available in flagship models for most brands, but the A3s is the first mid-range and A series device with what the company calls a ‘super-full screen’. Moreoever, it comes with a pretty catchy glossy design that shows off a catch interplay of light and shadow from different angles – easy on the eye and touch. The OPPO A3s is available in Red and Dark Purple. So on the looks department and the extended battery power, plus also the better processor, it’s a good buy.
It’s Music Party is an interesting function. When users want to amp up music, the ‘Music Party’ function allows opening up a hotspot to connect multiple smartphones of one’s friends with ColorOS 5.1 or higher version OS to play the same track. Now one can bring more fun to the party without a speaker.
OPPO, which has strategically sought to hone its expertise in the area of selfies — which are perhaps the most common style or format of mobile phone photography amongst not just the youth but participative tourists and travelers across age groups the world over, is ‘pictures with AI smart beauty’.
The front camera uses A.I. Beauty Technology that helps one look their best in photos. While the front camera will ensure users click sharp and natural selfies, dual rear cameras will enhance the experience of photography and make it seem realistic. Users can use shallow depth effect, click sharper photos and it also enables ‘wide-angle’ pictures.
OPPO’s A.I. Beauty Technology employs a cloud database from premium suppliers that have sufficient power to support diversified facial recognition in smart terminals. OPPO A3s is the new-generation but mid-priced selfie device. It comes with an 8MP front lens and 13 MP+2MP dual rear lens. Oh, and the A3S is an Android 8.1 Oreo, ColorOS 5.1, dual-SIM dual standby device. At Rs 10999, definitely a good buy.
