Yoast SEO 3.3, the latest version of arguably the best SEO plugin, is out, and this time, it’s not just about brilliant SEO. It’s also about writing readable and SEO-friendly content.
Now, apart from the SEO tab, Yoast SEO will show a content tab with realtime advice on how readable your text is.
The 6 content checks in Yoast SEO 3.3
There are six content checks in all in Yoast SEO 3.3. It will check:
Subheadings, and whether you have used them, the length of your paragraphs and the length of your sentences. It will also check that other drag on good readability – how much of passive voice you have used. Also, which transition words you use. Then, it will provide you an overall Flesch Reading Ease Score. Now, the Flesch readability score checks the length of your sentences. It calculates that score by considering how many words are there in each sentence, and the number of syllables per word. The higher the Flesch Reading Ease Score, the easier that text is to read. A score of 100 would entail short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
To get back to the content analysis checks: All six checks are equally important in the calculation of the overall content score. A red bullet equals 3 penalty points, while an orange bullet equals 2 penalty-points. If your article scores 7 or more penalty points, the overall content bullet will be red. If your article scores 5 or 6 penalty points, your article will receive an orange bullet. Articles with 0, 2, 3 or 4 penalty points will be rewarded with the much-wanted green bullet.
Aim — indeed, strive — for overall green content bullet. You can do it, even if you have one red, or two orange bullets.
Yoast SEO 3.3 has also renewed the help centre in the plugin.
